Impact Report 2023 – 2024
The award-winning, cross-government programme hosted by Local Partnerships has now upskilled more than 200 serving and post-release prisoners.
Prisoners Building Homes (PBH) proves that it is possible to address the UK’s housing shortage and improve prisoner rehabilitation at the same time.
Those who take part in the pioneering initiative learn how to build high-quality, low-carbon homes for local communities, including affordable housing and homes for vulnerable people.
They gain valuable skills and qualifications so they are more likely to find employment on release, which is proven to reduce reoffending.
Sophie Baker, Director for PBH, said:
“We are so proud to have hit this fantastic milestone and to have helped change the lives of over 200 serving and post-release prisoners.
“A huge thank you to all our partners including the Ministry of Justice; His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service; the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government; Police and Crime Commissioners; and our wonderful housebuilders who have helped us to achieve this amazing goal.”
