Environment and energy – Local Partnerships Environment and energy – Local Partnerships

Environment and energy

Environment and Energy support that helps public sector organisations respond to climate risk, reduce emissions, manage energy costs and develop greener, more resilient places.

The Challenge

Councils and public sector bodies are under pressure to respond to climate change, rising energy costs, environmental decline and the transition to a cleaner energy system.

They need to reduce emissions, manage climate risks, improve resilience and make confident decisions about clean energy, green growth, nature recovery and place-based investment.

How Local Partnerships helps with this challenge

Local Partnerships helps organisations move from ambition to practical action. Our Environment and Energy teams provide technical expertise, practical tools and hands-on advisory support to help public bodies assess risks, identify opportunities, secure investment and design deliverable programmes.

Why it matters

Climate, energy and environmental decisions affect public services, communities and places for the long term. Getting them right helps organisations reduce emissions, improve resilience, manage energy costs and invest in greener infrastructure.

This work supports better outcomes for communities, the environment and the public purse, helping public bodies make confident decisions and deliver practical projects with long-term value.

Need help with environment and energy?

Replay: Electric Vehicle and Charging Infrastructure Grant

Electric Vehicle and Charging Infrastructure Grant

We hosted a webinar to introduce the 2024-2025 ZEV and EVCI grant programme, which aims to support public sector organisations in Wales in their transition to zero-emission vehicles. The webinar was accompanied by a detailed slide deck that walked participants through the key aspects of the grant, including eligibility, funding details, and the application process.

The slides covered the main goals of the grant, such as promoting cleaner transportation and reducing carbon emissions, with specific targets for the adoption of ZEVs by 2025 and 2030.

Additionally, we provided guidance on related topics, such as sustainable staff travel, to help organisations align with broader decarbonisation efforts.

The webinar and slide deck were designed to give participants a clear understanding of how to take advantage of this funding opportunity and make meaningful progress toward greener transportation solutions.

REPLAY: Managing Supply Chain Emissions

Nearly all the UK’s local authorities have adopted a net zero target, be that for 2030, 2050 or somewhere in between. But with 80%+ of an organisation’s emissions typically arising from the goods and services it purchases (rather than from its own buildings, vehicles etc.), getting close to net zero isn’t possible without looking at our purchasing processes and decisions.

In what could be a technical and complex area, the Managing Supply Chain Emissions webinar provided a practical introduction to some of the challenges and opportunities of addressing supply chain emissions.

Joining Edward Barlow was the Procurement Solution Lead of Oxygen Finance, Debbie Lyons. This webinar was provided as part of the Strategic Partnership between Local Partnerships and Oxygen Finance.
