It was a pleasure to attend and speak at the Marine Energy Wales Conference 2023 in Swansea this week.
Project Director Sarah-Joy Lewis was on the panel “The Business Case for Tidal Range”, which examined the business case for tidal range in light of the current energy crisis, and the value it can bring to the energy system through load balancing flexibility.
The First Minister of Wales addressed delegates at the conference, outlining the Welsh Government’s ‘huge commitment’ to the offshore renewable energy sector.
Speaking about the next steps for the Tidal Lagoon Challenge, First Minister Mark Drakeford said: “We will award up to £750,000 of funding, over two years, to a variety of project bids to fund innovative research which address the key questions related to tidal lagoon delivery.”
