Association Of Directors Of Adult Social Services (ADASS) Spring Seminar
The annual Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS) spring seminar took place last week. The organisation “aims to further the interests of people in need of social care by promoting high standards of social care services and influencing the development of social care legislation and policy”.
A key theme of the conference was focus on the individual, including addressing the epidemic of loneliness and better engaging the public. Presentations were given by Andrea Sutcliffe, Chief Inspector of Adults at the Care Quality Commission, who advocated for “seamless service for the person not the system” and Glen Garrod, newly appointed President of ADASS. Garrod asserted “it is too easy to say ‘integration’ and it says too little: we must focus on the individuals who need us”. He advocated for “creative disruption” to the sector.
Local Partnerships’ was delighted to be a sponsor and demonstrate our support for the aims of the association. Our lead on health and social care integration, Anne Jarrett, met colleagues from across the UK, including Pratima Solanki, Director of Adult Social Care, and Annette McPartland Head of Adult Day Operations, both from the London Borough of Croydon.
