Local Partnerships proudly sponsors an award at The MJ Awards 2023

Local Partnerships are thrilled and excited to be sponsoring the ‘Leadership in Responding to the Climate Emergency‘ again, at the 2023 MJ Awards.

The MJ Awards are not just a celebration of success stories. They provide the people in local government with the recognition they deserve. “Winning an MJ Award acknowledges the tremendous effort of those in local government dedicating themselves to supporting local communities, facing challenge after challenge, but never giving up in the face of adversity.” MJ awards

Leadership in Responding to the Climate Emergency

We launched the ‘Leadership in Responding to the Climate Emergency‘ award at the 2020 MJ Awards, as part of our work to support local authorities who are tackling the climate crisis. The award gives councils an opportunity to show leadership in the climate space by demonstrating innovation, policy development and bold decisions when working towards net zero targets and climate adaptation.

Last year’s winners were London Borough of Enfield and London Borough of Waltham Forest supported by London Councils. They won for their combined working to retrofit London’s homes in a groundbreaking project. You can read their submission here.

“If ever there was a need for tangible evidence that our climate is changing, increasing instances of extreme weather – from record temperature heatwaves to extreme flooding – the 2020s have so far provided it in abundance.” MJ awards

Please get your nomination in now for the ‘Leadership in Responding to the Climate Emergency‘ award.
Judges will be looking for evidence of –

  • a comprehensive, clear and robust plan, setting out how aims have and will be achieved and measured.
  • challenging targets and interim, measurable, milestones.
  • how the strategy for sustaining climate emergency is as a key priority for the authority’s leadership.
  • innovation across the areas of energy, industry, buildings, transport, food, nature-based solutions and climate leadership for the delivery of targets.
  • strategies for engaging the community and ensuring that the response to climate emergency is understood locally.

At Local Partnerships’ our team of specialists brings a formidable combination of public and private sector experience, offering the highest quality and most effective support to the public sector. We are a hands-on organisation and work collaboratively for the benefit of our clients often sitting alongside project teams rather than providing advice from afar. Because of this, Local Partnerships want to support the public sector, by helping to raise awareness of some of the most pressing issues that are evident in every local authority right now.

So, what are you waiting for? Please go to the MJ website to nominate.
