East Cambridgeshire Council advances data maturity
Local Government
To strengthen its data capabilities and build a more data-enabled organisation, East Cambridgeshire Council engaged the Data & Analytics team at Local Partnerships to help shape its data strategy and provide hands-on support for practical implementation.
The collaboration focused on aligning data priorities with strategic goals, improving internal capabilities across the organisation, and supporting non-specialist staff in developing impactful data products. As a result, the council has accelerated its data maturity and embedded data-led thinking more broadly across its services.
Client requirements
To help East Cambridgeshire to become more data enabled, the council requested our support with the development of its data strategy and provide some practical support with improving its data capability.
How we supported the council
The Data & Analytics team supported the council by:
- Helping it structure its data strategy, making sure it reflected the council’s strategic priorities, as well as provide practical advice on how develop the key sections
- Providing ongoing support and feedback to the data lead to help consider how to move their thinking forward
- Developing practical guidance to support council employees that were not necessarily data specialists with the development of data products, following their initial Power BI training
Impact
As a result of our work:
- The data team has been able to develop its strategic leadership to progress the data journey of the council
- The wider council has been able to leverage its data skills to put these into practice across the council, without being too reliant on the internal data team to develop insight
- Overall, the council has been able to accelerate its data maturity
