Part of a webinar series
CHoSS – Part 1 – From ambition to delivery: the councillor’s role in council housebuilding
CHoSS – Webinar 1 of 3
Overview
How can councillors help turn housing ambitions into homes?
Join Local Partnerships and the LGA’s Council Housebuilding Support Service (CHoSS) for a practical session exploring councillors’ roles in shaping priorities, working with officers and overseeing council housebuilding programmes.
Through practical examples, discussion and peer learning, the session will explore the questions councillors should ask about finance, risk, governance and delivery capacity. You do not need technical housing or development expertise to take part.
About CHoSS
CHoSS provides free, tailored support to help councils strengthen their capability and deliver more council-led social and affordable housing. It is funded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government through the Capacity to Build programme.
Who should attend?

- Housing and council housebuilding
- Regeneration and place

- Which questions to ask about financial viability, risk, governance and capacity.
- How to work effectively with officers, with clear roles and responsibilities.
- Lessons from practical examples of council housing delivery.
There will be opportunities to ask questions throughout, alongside information on accessing further CHoSS support.
