Wayne George
Wayne George joined Local Partnerships in October 2023 and is now Head of Transport and Infrastructure.
Wayne George has over 20 years’ experience of delivering, sponsoring, and assuring projects across infrastructure sectors.
As a Strategy Director, Wayne works across Local Partnerships’ Place and Assurance Business Units. Wayne is a qualified Chartered Project Professional (ChPP), Chartered Town Planner (MRPTI) and Full Member of the Association for Project Management (MAPM). He holds a first class honours degree in Public Policy Management, two Masters degrees in urban studies and urban and regional planning, respectively, and has completed executive education in infrastructure, development and finance at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
Prior to joining Local Partnerships, Wayne was Head of National Scheme Planning and Sponsorship at National Highways with responsibility for sponsoring the early development of 30+ enhancement schemes.
He led the design and implementation of new governance arrangements between National Highways and the Department for Transport (DfT) to ensure effective portfolio-level oversight and support Ministerial decision-making. Wayne also managed the delivery of National Highways first Strategic Economic Growth Plan (The Road to Growth), the first 2050 Master Plan (Connecting the Country: Planning for the long term) and the Digital Roads vision, roadmap and strategy. Wayne holds expertise in early project planning and is passionate about the role of project sponsorship having led the refresh of National Highways Sponsorship Framework and co-developed a Sponsorship Profession and Community of Practice.
He holds over ten years’ local government experience working for a large metropolitan borough council in the Midlands, leading economic development, external funding, town centre regeneration and inward investment services. He is experienced in the private sector, working for an economic development and regeneration consultancy focused on housing market renewal.
Wayne has also represented the United Kingdom on the international World Road Association; contributing to Task Forces focused on exploring policy and operational matters for road authorities.
Local Partnerships LLP has worked with the National Buried Infrastructure Facility (NBIF) School of Engineering, University of Birmingham since April 2025, bringing academic rigour and international insights to our infrastructure work for the public sector.
Association for Project Management – Wayne George (Local Partnerships LLP) winner of Project Professional of the Year. Wayne’s leadership on the Connected and Automated Mobility Data Discovery project impressed judges with its blend of technical expertise, stakeholder insight and clear project outcomes. His submission reflected personal growth and a lasting contribution to the project’s success.
