Ineffective KPIs (Key performance indicators) are costing UK local authorities millions every year. This series of training films explore what an effective key performance indicator can mean to your council by taking real-life examples of establishing KIPs.

The films have been produced by Local Partnership in partnership with MHCLG, in response to feedback from councils across the country on the cost of poor performance monitoring but the value of getting it right!

What is KPI?

KPIs are quantifiable measures and can demonstrate how well a council is doing in meeting its objectives.

KPIs can be tracked over time as well as layered with serval indicators for a broad picture – this all helps in understanding where services need to adapt and change. KPIs are important in contract management to make sure suppliers are on track and publishing KPIs helps councils be transparent and accountable.

Why should you complete this training?

Making sure you are measuring the right thing in the right way can be tricky. This training films takes a step-by-step approach in establishing KPIs and ensuring they continue to be valuable. The training is relevant if you are new to the world of KPIs or an old hand who is wanting to refresh and review your approach. The films use accessible language, real-life examples and are interactive so the learning sticks way after you have experienced the training.
