Local Partnerships helps lead delivery of publicly-owned renewable energy for Wales

Local Partnerships is working with the Welsh Government to lead the delivery of Ynni Cymru, a new energy initiative focused on renewable energy generation at the community level.

Ynni Cymru is a new publicly-owned energy company for Wales, that gives local people and communities control over local resources and renewable energy initiatives and focuses on the innovative area of Smart Local Energy Systems

Smart Local Energy Systems bring together different energy assets and infrastructure in a local area, and make them operate in a smarter way, increasing value for local authorities and the community, helping local places meet their carbon targets more quickly and more cost effectively and deliver wider social and economic value for residents and businesses.

Adele Gritten, Chief Executive of Local Partnerships, said: “Local Partnerships is proud to be supporting the delivery of this initiative. Publicly-owned renewable energy entities such as this can help expedite the route to net zero, while benefiting local communities.”

In this fast-developing area, Local Partnerships’ team of commercial and energy sector specialists are undertaking the key tasks necessary to establish the company and are working to select, develop and deliver a diverse pipeline of smart local energy system projects across Wales.
