Budget 2024 – Key announcements for Local Government
Key announcements for Local Government ahead of the Spring Budget 2024 had already been trailed including details of the funding settlement and the requirement to produce Productivity Plans.
While detail of the expected content of Productivity Plans has still to be revealed, the Budget 2024 provided insight into the key areas that the Government want to see explored as part of their drive to boost government productivity
- Effective project management
- Reducing fraud
- Using AI, data and technology

We know, however, from our work across the country how dependent the success of this policy is on strong and effective partnership working at local and regional level and the capacity challenges being posed by the distressed financial state of the local government sector.
