Wales Annual Impact Report launch event in the Senedd

Last night saw the launch of Local Partnerships’ Wales Annual Impact Report.

Our thanks to co-sponsors Luke Fletcher MS and Mike Hedges MS for hosting us in the Senedd, Cardiff. We were joined by guests from Welsh Government, Welsh local authorities and key stakeholders from across Wales. We were honoured that Deputy First Minister Huw Irranca-Davies attended the event to hear of the successes we’ve helped achieve for Wales and Welsh communities.

Outlining our work

Luke Fletcher MS opened the launch, outlining our work across a swathe of important policy areas like energy, the environment, recycling, placemaking and infrastructure in Wales, alongside the establishment of Ynni Cymru, a key commitment in the 2021 Plaid Cymru-Welsh Labour Co-operation Agreement. 

Our work in Wales

Chief Executive, Adele Gritten, described our work in Wales, summarised in 6 key points: 

• helping Welsh Government meet net zero targets by 2030
• addressing the need to meet growing demands with shrinking budgets
• support for building houses through to major infrastructure
• boosting commercial expertise to help manage contracts and increase income
• focusing on waste reduction with repair, reuse and recycling at its heart
• empowering public sector organisations to harness data for smarter decisions

Local Partnerships’ support for councils

Cllr Huw Thomas, Leader of Cardiff Council, spoke warmly about Local Partnerships’ support for the Council’s ambitious plans for the retrofit of energy efficiency measures to the council estate using our Re:fit energy performance contracting framework, and delivery of strategic and practical approaches and solutions to achieve a just transition to net zero, minimising waste and facilitating a circular economy.

Support and expertise

Stephen Vickers, Chief Executive of Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent, thanked Adele for the support and expertise of her team, who have been instrumental in helping them to navigate through a period of transformation, streamlining operations, reducing duplication and enhancing the resilience of their workforce.

Greater efficiency

Mike Hedge MS closed the speeches, raising the importance of partnership working to achieve greater efficiency, and encouraged guests to engage with Local Partnerships.
