The Sustainability Outcome Measures take a circular economy approach. It tracks the physical and energy inputs into the economy and the waste and pollution outputs, as shown on the graphic below. A circular economy approach aims to minimise all of these through reuse within the economy.

Within these categories you can choose data from two perspectives. A production approach focuses on impact from production in the local area (regardless of where the products are consumed). A consumption approach focuses on impact from consumption (regardless of where the products are produced).
