LGA Conference 2023 roundup from Local Partnerships

We had a very busy and productive week last week when the Local Partnerships team attended the LGA Conference 2023.

We launched our Impact Report 2022-23, which is full of the last years’ work, with lots of examples of how we continue to strengthen the public sector.

Our chief executive Adele Gritten on this year’s conference…

We handed out wild seeds and sun sticks as one of our main priorities this year is climate.

We were also thrilled to be invited into the innovation zone, where Huw talked about the Greenhouse Gas Accounting Tool along side Emily Bolton, who spoke about the Waste Emission calculator.

Climate targets and positive change

At the conference, we spoke to members and officers about their councils’ climate targets and whether they were on track to meet them. Our climate survey found that out of those asked “Is your council on track to reach your council’s net zero target?”, 50% said they were “doing ok, but could use a bit of help”. And that’s where Local Partnerships comes in.

In our Resource Hub we have many free resources available to help you on your journey to net zero (listed below). But don’t hesitate to contact anyone in our team if you think we might be able to help. We’ll be back at the conference next year in Harrogate and would love to see you there.
